The Department of Transportation (DoTr) announced that phase 1 construction of the Tagum City-Davao City-Digos City (TDD) segment of the railway project starts in the second quarter of this year.

Despite the delays because of the pandemic, DOTr said that the railway system has a ‘partial operability’ status by the 2nd quarter next year.

On the other hand, the schedule for phase 2 construction (Butan, Cagayan de Oro, Laguindilan, Iligan segment) is still unknown.

Butuan international Port

As the gateway of the north-eastern part of Mindanao, the Caraga region wishes to pursue modernization and expansion of seaports to provide efficient and competitive shipping services.

Infrastructure development is one of the main priorities of the Caraga regional development plan for 2017–2022.

With this, the region plans to develop the Butuan International Port.

The project will complement the existing Nasipit Port of Agusan del Norte and Lipata Port and Surigao Port in Surigao City; as the entry and exit points to and from Visayas and Luzon.

Once completed, the project would improve the traffic in the region, particularly in the transportation of agricultural products and other goods from Mindanao to the northern parts of the country.

Indeed, these developments prove that Butuan City is a true home of limitless opportunities.

The city had embraced many infrastructure developments through the years. Yet, there are still more to come as companies are eyeing Butuan as their target location for business expansion in northern Mindanao.

With its strategic geographical location in Mindanao, Butuan is the gateway for investments in the northern region.

As it continuously grows to become a globally competitive city suitable for business, Butuan continues to welcome and embrace investors to explore, invest and live in the thriving city.
